At Totara School, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality programmes for Primary & Intermediate aged students (Years 1 to 8).
We are a small community, focused on building a family-like atmosphere for our students. We take pride in the leadership opportunities we offer our students and in the high achievement results, we produce consistently.
Totara School is only a 5-minute drive from town and has a mix of students from the surrounding area as well as a number from Oamaru township.
The school provides bus service for all students. This bus service also links with the after school OSCAR programme.
There is a bus for those who are within the current school area. Pearsons also provide a bus for those students from town who come to our school but this is not provided by school. Parents should contact Pearsons directly to find out the cost of using this service.

Kia ora koutou,
I hope you have had a wonderful weekend!
We've studied the weather and deleberated and decided we are optimistically firing ahead with tomorrow's trip.
Who - whole school
What to bring -
Mufti clothes can be worn but remember practical / active clothes including warm clothing for before and after - jacket, jersey, footwear that can get wet and or dirty
Swim suits / togs and any wetsuits people own would be ideal!
A large packed lunch, drink bottle, hat, sunscreen, medication including inhalers for asthma needed
We will provide a BBQ lunch of sausages and bread and tomato sauce
What we are doing - relaxing, swimming and riding an inflatable tube (biscuit) towed behind a boat
When - leave school at 9am. Leaving no later than 1:15pm to get back to school before 2:50pm.
Where - We plan to be based around the Loch Laird swimming area which is usually calm and warmer than many other spots. The trip to and from will take us approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Thanks so much for the indication of support. In this current economic climate and the price of gas we are extremely grateful! We have a decent level of support for supervision and transport.
Transport - Hannagan - up to 6, Rawson - up to 6, Muldrew - 4, Openshaw - 3, Walsh - 3, Garrick - 2 or 3
Supervision.- Matt, Scott, Olivia, Troy, Melissa, Jess, Renee and/or or Lance
For those that have offered life jackets, yes please - we'd love as many as possible. We promise to take good care of them!
Boats - we have 2 boats that are controlled by experienced 'boaties' - Mr Rawson and Miss Muldrew's partner Shane. Safety precautions are paramount for all involved and safety will be briefed beforehand. No chn will be forced to do any boating.
A humongous thanks to all those supporting the trip and special mention to Scott and Liv my amazing colleagues and our school teachers who wanted to provide this awesome experience for the Totara tamariki! Should be fun.
Any questions or concerns please let me know.
Cheers, Matt
